Litvínov Vice-Mayor: Roma from Slovakia are a security risk, send them back

Several more Roma families from Slovakia have begun renting private apartments at the Janov housing estate in Litvínov. The town hall is alarmed by the situation and intends to address it without delay. “We consider Slovak Roma families a security risk, so we will treat them as one. We are seeking a way to return Slovak Roma back to their homeland,” Vice-Mayor Martin Klika announced in a press release.

The town hall is working on addressing the problem with its social affairs department, the Labor Office in Most, the Police of the Czech Republic and the Aliens’ Police. “We are contacting the owners of the apartments where the Slovak Roma are living. These are inadaptable citizens of another country who might disrupt security at Janov. I view the approach of some of the nonprofit organizations at Janov very negatively, because they are not cooperating with the town and they underestimate the security risk that results from this flood of Slovak Roma into Janov,” Klika said.

“We are concentrating our attention on Slovak Roma families. They do not have their documents in order. We have enlightened them as to the town decrees they must respect. They will now be one of the priorities for our patrols,” said Zdeněk Urban, commander of the Litvínov Municipal Police. A coordination meeting of all participating units was held on 2 September at the Litvínov Town Hall.
