Mayor of Nový Bydžov wants "dialogue" with organizers of anti-DSSS protest

More than a week ago, a small group of students in Nový Bydžov announced their intention to non-violently confront the promoters of the Workers’ Social Justice Party (Dělnická strana sociální spravedlnosti – DSSS) at their upcoming demonstration in the town. However, they have yet to register their event with the local town hall. Mayor Pavel Louda (Civic Democrats – ODS) is calling on the students to contact the town hall quickly.

“Our aim is ideally to create a human chain around the square, like they did in Dresden,” one of the three students told news server Romea.cz a week ago. The students are keeping their names secret for their own safety. At the time they said they would be registering their event with the town hall within three days, where the mayor was said to welcome it.

No event has been registered yet. Mayor Louda has issued a call to the young people through the town hall’s web page to get in touch as soon as possible and start discussions on what their intended protest will be like.

“The mayor wants the gathering of the DSSS and other actors on 12.3.2011 in Nový Bydžov to take place peacefully. He is calling on the students organizing the human chain in Nový Bydžov to hold discussions with him as soon as possible,” reads the statement, which was posted yesterday.
