The demonstration the far-right National Corporativism movement organised in Vlasim today ended in the afternoon with the leaders’ speeches condemning what they called positive discrimination against ethnic Romanies in the Czech Republic.

Afterwards many participants left to attend the private part of the event in a local pub.
The police continue monitoring the situation in the pub’s vicinity.

About 80 right wingers attended the demonstration along with a number of local residents.

"Under the mask of would-be humanity you defend criminals and murderers," one of the speakers said within his criticism of the Czech government.

No incident occurred during the demonstration except for a starting clash between the ultra-right wingers and some 20 anarchists that was dashed by the police.

The police detained three neo-Nazis. One is suspected of attacking a public official.
Vlasim Mayor Ludek Jenista said, however, that the alleged anarchists were in fact no anarchists but drunk locals who provoked the clash.

Anti-extremist civic groups on Friday protested against the Vlasim town hall’s decision to permit the National Corporativism’s demonstration.

Klara Kalibova from the Tolerance and Civic Society group told CTK that it was evident from the invitation to the event entitled the Day of Race that it is aimed against the Romany community.

The organisers committed a crime by publishing such an invitation on their Internet page, Kalibova said.

Mayor Jenista, nevertheless, argued that the event had been properly announced.
