World Romany festival Khamoro opens in Prague

Romany Gulo car and Le chavendar bands today opened the 10th world Romany festival Khamoro or Sun with a concert that was attended by some 300 visitors according to the organisers.

The choice of the bands also attracted many young Romanies who did not come in big numbers to the first festivals.
The festival will continue until May 31.

The programme comprises besides music also exhibitions, film marathons, an expert conference and flamenco seminars.

Michal Benc, spokesman for the organising association Slovo 21, said he thinks the best artists from Europe and the whole world will arrive, particularly in the field of traditional music.
