28 Roma children seized in child trafficking bust
Twenty- eight Romanian Gypsy children were seized yesterday in a child trafficking probe in North East London, the Mirror has reported.
They were found in 16 homes and are feared to be victims of a criminal gang. A boy of three was taken to hospital with bruising and facial injuries and three adults were arrested on suspicion of assault and neglect. Four others were arrested; two for being wanted on warrant and two on suspicion of benefit fraud.
It is thought that the children would have been forced to beg and steal in order to fund the lifestyle of criminal gang leaders.
The Mirror reported that 103 children were found in total, all of Romanian Roma origin. Up to last night, they were being assessed by child protection officers in London.
