ERIO event for International Roma Day

April 08, the International Roma Day was set up in 1990 in Warsaw, during the Fourth Roma World Congress. It is celebrated in honor of the first major international meeting of Roma representatives held on April 8, 1971 in London. The international Roma Day is to raise awareness of the culture and traditional values of Roma people.

On April 08th, 2008 the international Roma Day will be celebrated for first time in Brussels. On the occasion the European Roma Information Office (ERIO) together with the office of MEP Katalin Levai is organizing two hours panel discussion to exchange views on the achievements of Roma’s integration so far as well as on the challenges for the improvement of their human rights situation and social inclusion in future.
