Greece: Parliamentary question on Hammarberg letter on Patras Roma evictions
Greek Helsinki Monitor (GHM), on this International Roma Day, highlights the following question to the Minister of Interior, Public Administration and Decentralization Prokopis Pavlopoulos, tabled before the Greek Parliament by PASOK MP Nasos Alevras, and translated into English by GHM, from the Greek original availablehere.
The question concerns the letter by the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg to the Greek government on the evictions of Roma in Patras, the failure of the Greek government to answer the letter, as well as the inaccurate information in the government’s reply to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe following the Written Question No. 502 by Boris Cilevičs, member of the Socialist Group at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
The Commissioner’s Letter to the government is availablehere.
The Greek government’s reply to the Committee of Ministers is availablehere.
