Romano regret position of Mr Ahtisaari

"Romano" in Denmark express deep regret that UN- special envoy Mr Ahtisaari refuse to include the Kosovo Roma diaspora in the status negotiations for Kosovo.

Mr Ahtisaari is of course aware that most of the former Roma population has fled Kosovo and are refugees and "rejected" asylum seekers mainly in Western European countries. The number of persons is estimated to exceed 100.000 perons. Compared to this there is only a few thousand Roma inside Kosovo today.

"Romano" finds it regretable and contrary to international law that the UN special envoy Mr Ahtisaari refuses to talk to representratives of the diaspora and point to the delicate situation of the small number of Roma inside Kosovo, who can not be expected to speak for the large diaspora.

"Romano", who represents a number of Kosovo Roma families of the diaspora in Denmark, will now bring this complaint to the EU, which is envisaged to take over the leading role of management of Kosovo.

"Romano" refers that the President of the European Commission Mr José Manuel Barroso has stated the importance of the Roma issue in EU, where the Roma with 10-12 mio. persons constitute the largest thnic majority.
