The Slovak police on Friday arrested five right-wing extremists who were verbally attacking the Romany inhabitants of a family house near Krupina, the local police told CTK today.

The young men reportedly chanted Nazi slogans under the influence of alcohol and threatened to kill the Romany residents.

The attackers, aged between 16 and 25, have been placed in a detention cell.

They face up to two years in prison, if found guilty.

The police have also found out that the perpetrators have their bodies decorated with extremist symbols and that they carried a flag with a swastika during the incident on Friday night.

The local police also intervened against extremists in Krupina a fortnight ago when a few skinheads attacked eight Romanies during New Year’s Eve celebrations and injured three of them.
Two Slovaks and three Czechs have been accused in this connection.
