The book on the Holocaust from Romania
The book “The Third Reich and the Holocaust from 1940-1944. Documents from the German Archives”, edited by Ottmar Trasca and Dennis Deletant and published at the Publishing House “Eli Wiesel” of the National Institute for Holocaust Studies from Romania, was launched Wednesday, the 9th of April, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE).
The authors outline the difference between the period of the communist regime, when the issue of ethnic minorities, especially the Jewish one, was avoided, and the last decade when, as our country was getting closer and better integrated with the European and Euroatlantic structures, the Romanian historiography became more interested in the whole issue of the Holocaust in Romania.
The program called “Editorial benchmarks at MAE”, launched in March 2008, plans to introduce works of certain Romanian and foreign authors from diplomacy-related fields, which are connected to the specific activity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the professional development of diplomats, or tackling important periods and aspects of modern and contemporary history and diplomacy.
