Czech presidential candidate sends convicted antisemite as his "spokesperson" to debate

5.1.2018 16:47 The online news portal iDNES.cz has acquiesced to the requests of the campaign team backing the incumbent, Czech President Zeman, who has refused to participate in any debates prior to this month's presidential elections - so iDNES.cz is now holding such discussions among the press spokespersons of all the candidates, not between the candidates themselves. Candidate Petr Hannig has now sent a convicted antisemite, Adam B. Bartoš, to represent him during such a debate.  full story

Czech ultra-right extremist on trial for approving of genocide, inciting hatred against Jews and refugees

25.7.2017 11:02 The chair of the ultra-right National Democracy (Národní demokracie - ND) party, extremist Adam B. Bartoš, asked to read into the court record all of the writings that are the basis of the charges against him for approving of genocide, denying genocide, inciting hatred and defaming national groups. Justice Pavla Hájková rejected his request as unnecessary, but his attorney is considering appealing her decision.  full story

Czech Police propose prosecution of ultra-right extremist, he faces three years if convicted

12.2.2017 9:39 Prague Police have proposed prosecuting the chair of the ultra-right National Democracy party, Adam B.Bartoš, for the crimes of approving of and/or denying, justifying or questioning genocide, inciting hatred, defaming a nation and approving of a felony. Tomáš Hulan, spokesperson for the Prague Police, informed the Czech News Agency of the indictment on 7 February.  full story

Czech report on extremism: Regional elections behind significant growth in extreme-right activity

25.10.2016 17:48 During the period from July to September this year, the Department of Security Policy of the Czech Interior Ministry noted a total of 79 events directly organized by politically-motivated extremist groups or attended by the members of such groups in large numbers. Czech Police charge racist activist Adam B. Bartoš with crimes against humanity

1.5.2016 12:49 On 29 April the Prague Police charged the chair of the ultra-right National Democracy group, Adam B. Bartoš, with three counts of crimes against humanity. Police say he has committed those crimes through the content of his book and other writings he has published, as well as through his public speeches.  full story

Czech youth who fired gas pistol at demonstration given 200 hours of community service

25.4.2016 8:58 Jiří Borovička, who fired a gas pistol into the air during an anti-immigration demonstration this past February in Prague, was convicted of rioting and sentenced last week to 200 hours of community service and forfeiture of the weapon. The 21-year-old laborer has accepted the sentence and will not appeal, but the state prosecutor is still considering whether to appeal.  full story

Czech right-wing radicals found guilty of inciting hatred of Jewish people, will appeal

16.3.2016 23:47 The chair of the ultra-right National Democracy party, Adam B. Bartoš, and his fellow party member Ladislav Zemánek are guilty of making anti-Jewish statements at the grave of Anežka Hrůzová in the Czech town of Polná. Judge Tereza Jedličková of Jihlava has handed down the verdict, which has yet to take effect.  full story
