Crime prevention assistants from Romani community prove valuable in Czech town

9.8.2017 12:04 The town of Česká Lípa has hired two more crime prevention assistants, raising the number aiding local patrol officers to four, two men and two women. Thanks to good experience with their work, the local council decided to double their numbers, but while last year the jobs were financed thanks to state subsidies, the expansion of the project will be paid from the municipality's own resources.  full story

Czech Interior Ministry gives award to crime prevention assistant

Czech Republic: Charity refutes rumors that Romani people receive more child support from state than others

České Budějovice, 14.9.2013 19:54, (ROMEA) News server Deník.cz reports that the Diocesan Charity of České Budějovice (Diecézní charita České Budějovice) is refuting yet another widespread, false rumor about the alleged privileging of Romani people. Rudolf Kondáš, the newly-hired crime prevention assistant to the municipal police at the Máj housing estate there, says he hopes this summer's police operations at the housing estate in response to neo-Nazi provocations there will not have to be repeated.  full story

Czech town's security survey attests long-held stereotypical attitides of mistrust toward Roma

Frýdek-Místek , 15.6.2013 19:29, (ROMEA) The official website of the Czech municipality of Frýdek-Místek reports that the Department of Security Risks and Crime Prevention at the Frýdek-Místek town hall conducted a survey of residents at the start of this year about security in the town. The aim of the survey was to determine what and whom citizens are most concerned about in order to most effectively design and implement crime prevention projects to increase security in the town and make citizens feel safer.  full story
