Czech Police hiring 1 000 police officers for basic services, cybercrime and extremism

21.10.2018 6:44 The Police of the Czech Republic will be hiring 1 000 more officers now that the increased number of positions on the force was approved by the Government Thursday. A total of 628 police will be hired for basic services, bolstering street patrols and border protection.  full story

Czech Museum of Romani Culture still waiting for funds for demolition of pig farm on genocide site

20.7.2018 17:13 Despite the fact that the last pigs were removed from the industrial farm at Lety u Písku in mid-March, the facility is in the same state as it was when the Museum of Romani Culture first took it over. While the previous owners, the AGPI firm, have already been paid, the Museum is now incurring a deficit through its current administration of the entire facility because the Government has not yet approved the transfer of the promised financing from the budget reserves for the reclamation of the site of the former concentration camp.  full story

BREAKING NEWS: Contract for Czech state to buy pig farm on Romani genocide site has been signed

23.11.2017 12:03 Just after 11:30 AM today the contract on buying out the pig farm in Lety u Písku that stands on the site of the former concentration camp for Romani people was signed at the Czech Culture Ministry in Prague in the presence of Czech Culture Minister Daniel Herman (Christian Democrats - KDU-ČSL). The contract was signed between the Museum of Romani Culture director, Jana Horváthová, and the owner of the farm, represented by the vice-chair of the board of AGPI firm, Jan Čech.  full story

Czech state not signing pig farm contract today after all, money will come from next year's budget

13.9.2017 8:38 After the Czech state signs the purchase agreement with the firm running the pig farm on the site of the former concentration camp for Romani people at Lety u Písku, it will take several months for the money to be transferred, with the state reportedly planning to release the funds by the end of the first quarter of next year. Czech Finance Ministry raises annual limit above which nonprofits must report sales, local government association still unsatisfied

19.5.2017 10:12 The Czech Finance Ministry has increased the limit of turnover above which associations and nonprofit organizations must report their incomes from minor side business activities to CZK 300 000 [EUR 11 000] annually. Czech Republic: Romani Holocaust survivors' association chair says he has no reason to doubt pig farm will go

Czech Republic: Activists remain at Klinika even after 14:00 deadline today

Their contract with the Office for Government Representation in Property Affairs (Úřad pro zastupování státu ve věcech majetkových - ÚZSVM), which has lent them the building, ended at midnight yesterday and they were supposed to have vacated the premises by 14:00.  full story
