Czech city chooses streets where housing benefits are now banned for new tenants

1.12.2017 7:50 According to an amendment to the law on aid to those in material distress, municipalities are now able to define zones where housing benefits should not be awarded to residents. One of the many towns anticipating that it can use this option to halt an influx of impoverished families is Ústí nad Labem.  full story

New initiative challenges Czech Government to adopt social housing law by the end of the month

6.1.2017 7:26 Yesterday representatives of a new intiative called "Have a Home" (Mít svůj domov) organized a "happening" in front of the Office of the Government in Prague to challenge cabinet members to fulfill their campaign promise to adopt a law on social housing. The initiative wants the Government to do so by the end of January.

Czech adoption at decade low, Romani children often "exported"

Prague, 17.7.2014 16:43, (ROMEA) Authorities in the Czech Republic received the lowest number of requests for adoption last year during the past decade, a total of 626 (see table below). In recent years the number of requests has been gradually declining.  full story
