19.10.2018 6:59 Today at 11 AM in the beautiful Brožíkův Hall of the Old Town Hall in Prague, the Romani Scholarship Program is holding its celebratory gathering of Romani students of secondary and higher technical schools who have become scholarship recipients this school year. The program is implemented by the ROMEA organization for a third year with the support of the Velux Foundation of Denmark, the Albatros Foundation and other supporters.  full story

Romani students from Czech Republic visit Germany, say they will not allow unfreedom to recur

25.7.2018 15:33 Eight Romani high school and college students aged 15 to 24 from the Czech Republic attended an international youth meeting in Berlin and Leipzig, Germany from 10-18 July. Together with students from Germany and Israel they focused on the subjects of democracy and integration.  full story

18.6.2018 10:11 Romani secondary school students are now able to apply for scholarships for the 2018/2019 school year from the ROMEA organization. Online applications can be sent in until 18 July through the online application form at www.romskastipendia.cz.  full story

29.4.2018 7:29 According to Czech MEP Tomáš Zdechovský (Christian Democrats - KDU-ČSL) the main aim of the EU Roma Week, which began on the occasion of International Romani Day in Brussels, is to familiarize the larger public with the Romani community. "Many people have Romani neighbors, but they know nothing about Romani culture. I believe that's a shame," he said in an interview for the Romani internet television station ROMEA TV.  full story

Czech NGO ROMEA launches I HAVE A DREAM! campaign to support Romani students

24.4.2018 14:23 The ROMEA organization, in collaboration with Bader Philanthropies, has launched another campaign to support students as part of their Scholarship Program for Romani students of colleges, high schools and technical schools. The campaign is entitled I HAVE DREAM! and clearly references the strong message of human rights fighter Martin Luther King, Jr., who was a central representatives of the movement for the equality of African-Americans in the USA.  full story

Czech Republic: ROMEA organization is a recipient of the Anticorruption Endowment's award for bravery

12.12.2017 10:16 The Anticorruption Endowment (Nadační fond proti korupci - NFPK) in the Czech Republic has given its awards for bravery this year to the ROMEA organization, to activist Jakub Čech, and to the former director of the Quality Control Department of the Road and Motorway Directorate. This award is given to people who are not afraid to point out the existence of corruption or other negative phenomena in society irrespective of the consequences for them personally.  full story

Czech film director supports fundraising drive "THEY WANT TO GAS THEM, WE WANT TO SEND THEM TO SCHOOL!"

Czech Fulbright Commission calls on Romani students to apply for social enterprise summer school in the USA

15.11.2017 7:48 The Fulbright Commission in the Czech Republic is calling for Romani students of colleges and higher vocational schools to apply for a five-week Summer School on the topic of "social enterprise" at a US university. The aim of this visit is to introduce European students from socially disadvantaging environments to American culture and society and to give them experience in accessing civil society.  full story
