Czech Republic: Preparatory committee for new Romani Democratic Party meets
Prague, 14.5.2013 6:59, (ROMEA) The Mediafax agency reports that Romani people in the Czech Republic are preparing to establish a new political party, the Romani Democratic Party (Romská demokratická strana – RDS). Prague, 25.5.2011 17:22, (ROMEA) The Czech Government Agency for Social Inclusion in Roma Localities has been in operation since 2008. According to a recent analysis of municipal demand for its services, more municipalities are interested in its services than the Agency has capacity to collaborate with. Its activities are predominantly evaluated positively, but the city of Ostrava has criticized the Agency, which is now responding by reporting on the results of its work in a specific locality there. full story

As far as it goes, this is good news for the efficiency and simplification of a complicated system. However, what is not good is the current proposal to facilitate collections of social welfare benefits to cover debt (or to be precise, the collection of whatever portion exceeds an amount equivalent to double the minimum living standard). full story
