15.5.2018 9:21 On Thursday, 10 May an informal gathering of selected Romani figures was held at the Divadlo v Korunní theater in Prague by the newly-established Museum of the Romani National Revival. The Museum has been established by Emil Ščuka, who was previously part of the birth of the Roma Civic Initiative (ROI) in the 1990s and became its first chair.  full story

Exhibit touring Prague shows how Roma lived before being imprisoned in concentration camps

1.8.2017 10:54 Various locations around Prague will once again see the travelling exhibition "A Vanished World" („Zaniklý svět“) this month, about and by indigenous Czech Roma and Sinti people and created by the Committee for the Redress of the Roma Holocaust (Výbor pro odškodnění romského holocaustu - VPORH). Through rare early-20th century photographs and archival materials the exhibition presents the life of the Roma and Sinti in the Czech lands up to and including their imprisonment in the Nazi concentration camps.  full story

Objects from Auschwitz Museum featured in international travelling exhibition to warn against growing racism

29.7.2017 11:23 In Poland the first-ever travelling exhibition of objects from the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz has been created. Organizers say its aim is to familiarize the broader public with the horrors of the Holocaust and to send a warning signal to the next generation.  full story

Czech Republic: "Gypsy Soul" exhibition on view at Jerusalem Synagogue through August

8.6.2017 11:41 The opening of an exhibition of photographs by Mark Wiedorn called Gypsy Soul/Romská duše was opened in Prague's Jerusalem Synagogue along with a concert of classical music inspired by Romani motifs. Both events took place on 2 June 2017 as part of the 19th annual KHAMORO World Roma Festival held by the Slovo 21 organization.  full story

Czech Republic: Museum of Romani Culture opens retrospective of photographer Nihad Nino Pušija

10.5.2017 7:01 Tomorrow at 17:00 the Museum of Romani Culture will open the exhibition "Parno Gras" by Nihad Nino Pušija, the renowned photographer from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Pušija lives in Berlin, Germany and wanders between different cultures and states as an intercultural migrant.  full story

Outdoor travelling exhibition about indigenous Czech Roma and Sinti victims of the Holocaust on view in Prague

25.4.2017 7:10 The Committee for the Redress of the Roma Holocaust (Výbor pro odškodnění romského holocaustu - VPORH) has designed a travelling exhibition called "A Vanished World"
(Zaniklý svět), about the indigenous Czech Roma and Sinti who perished during the Holocaust, which now will be on view in several locations throughout Prague from April through October. Using rare archival materials and photographs, the exhibition presents the life of Roma and Sinti in the Czech lands prior to their imprisonment in the Nazi concentration camps.

"Roma Rising" exhibition featuring portraits of Roma from Czech Republic to open in Kladno

13.9.2016 7:12 On Thursday, 15 September at 17:00 the exhibition "Roma Rising" will open at the Sládečkovo Vlastivědné Muzeum (the Sládeček Museum of Local History) in the Czech town of Kladno and will remain on view until 27 November 2016. The exhibition features portraits of Roma from the Czech Republic who have managed to make it in mainstream society and honors their bravery and determination.  full story

Czech Republic: Art show about Hodonín concentration camp for Roma opens in Prague

9.7.2015 3:40 On Tuesday, 30 June an exhibition of art by Michaela Pospíšilová-Králová entitled "As If It Never Existed" ("Jako by nikdy neexistoval") about the concentration camp for Roma at Hodonín by Kunštát opened at Café v Lese in Prague (Krymská 12, Vršovice). The opening featured a lecture by Markus Pape, a German journalist living in Prague who has long studied the topic of the Roma Holocaust.  full story

Czech Republic: Unique exhibition reviews postwar memories of migrant Romani workers

12.6.2015 23:59 On Monday, 1 June an unusual exhibition called "Khatar san?" opened at the Hraničář Cinema and Gallery in the Czech town of Ústí nad Labem.
