Slovakia: Man shoots at Romani groundskeepers, then hangs Nazi flag from his window, is now in custody

3.7.2018 12:12 Police from Banská Bystrica are investigating a shooting incident in which a man fired a weapon at Romani people employed by a landscaping firm to mow the lawn at an apartment complex. The attack was perpetrated last week just after 14:00 on Monday and a judge has sent the gunman, who hung a Nazi flag from this window after firing the weapon, into custody.  full story

Ukrainian court remands two juveniles into custody for murderous pogrom against Roma, Canada and USA condemn the racist violence

26.6.2018 19:18 Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported today that a Ukrainian court has remanded two juveniles into custody on suspicion of participating in last weekend's attack on a Romani camp near Lviv. The murderous attack, which the media ascribe to a little-known neo-Nazi youth organization, sparked concern over the rise of racial violence in the country.

German judge's word choice causes retrial of arson incident against asylum-seekers' shelter

25.6.2018 10:55 The trial of the German neo-Nazi sentenced last year to nine and a half years in prison for committing arson against an asylum-seekers' shelter and other crimes must be redone. The Federal Court in Karlsruhe overturned the first-instance verdict of the state court and published its decision on 21 June.  full story

UK: Trial of neo-Nazi who planned to murder MP and policewoman begins in London

Jack Renshaw, a 23-year-old British citizen, confessed on 12 June to planning to murder a Labour MP using a machete. Another five men are accused along with him of being members of the banned neo-Nazi organization National Action.

Ukraine: Paramilitaries broadcast live pogrom against Roma on Facebook, the fourth in the last six weeks

9.6.2018 9:13 Radio Free Europe reports that axes and hammers were used on 7 June by neo-Nazis from the Azov National Militia to perpetrate yet another assault on Romani people in Ukraine. Their entire 7 June pogrom in Holosivskiy Park in Kiev was broadcast live by them on Facebook without police intervention at all.  full story

Czech ultra-right disrupts theater performance, director says it reminds him of the rise of Fascism in the 20th century

29.5.2018 11:15 The Czech News Agency reports that some 30 members of the self-described "Decent People" ("Slušní lidé") movement disrupted Saturday's performance of a play called "Our Violence and Your Violence" in the city of Brno, Czech Republic. Shortly after the performance began the disruptors took over the stage, forming a human chain to prevent the actors from continuing.  full story

Ukraine: Third arson attack against Roma in a month, firearms also used against 7 adults, 30+ children

24.5.2018 17:01 According to the Ukrainian ombudsman, on 22 May approximately 12 assailants set a Romani camp on fire in the Ternopil region of western Ukraine. At the moment of the attack there were seven adults and more than 30 young Romani children at the camp.  full story

Ukraine: Violence against Romani people is escalating

14.5.2018 19:44 The European Roma Rights Centre (ERRC) reports that more attacks have been perpetrated in Ukraine against Romani people. According to eyewitnesses, more than 30 masked men attacked several Romani families in the early morning hours of 10 May who were occupying temporary dwellings near the community of Rudne in the Lviv area in Western Ukraine, forcing them to leave their homes.  full story

Germany: Neo-Nazi terrorists get multiple-year sentences

12.3.2018 21:04 Members of the extremist right-wing group Freital who committed several bomb attacks against their political opponents and refugees have been sentenced to between four and 10 years in prison by a court in Dresden. 19.2.2018 8:19 The Czech Interior Ministry's report on extremism for the final quarter of 2017 says a total of 54 events organized by extremists took place last year in the Czech Republic. Of those, 47 were organized by left-wing extremist entities, 20 events more than compared to the fourth quarter of 2016.  full story

16.1.2018 8:00 Dozens of residential buildings have been struck by arson in Germany in recent years, and the subtext to these insidious attacks has been either a neo-Nazi motivation, or a racist one, or has yet to be identified. Czech women charged with promoting neo-Nazism plead innocent

8.1.2018 11:54 On 5 January 2018, six women told a Czech court that they reject their indictment on charges of promoting and support the neo-Nazi movement "Resistance Women Unity" (RWU), either refusing to testify about their actions between 2007 and 2009 or making brief statements claiming they are innocent. The District Court for Prague 2 will continue to hear the case again on 21 February.  full story

Czech Internet spreads lies and xenophobia after brawl in Brno, Interior Ministry responds

28.12.2017 8:39 Detectives in Brno, Czech Republic have charged three foreign nationals on suspicion of assaulting two men, one from Armenia and one from the Czech Republic, in the early morning hours of Saturday on Běhounská Street. The alleged main instigator of the incident has also been charged with felony battery, making dangerous threats and rioting, for which he could be imprisoned for up to 10 years if convicted, while the others were charged with rioting, which carries a maximum sentence of two years, according to a press release issued by the spokesperson for the South Moravian Regional Police, Andrea Cejnková.
