The police investigation into last year’s arson attack on the home of a Romani family in Vitkov has definitively ended. Today police proposed to the state prosecutor that attempted murder charges be filed against four right-wing extremists. The Czech Press Agency reports Sona Stetinska, spokesperson for the Moravian-Silesian police, as saying that the accused have been familarized with the material gathered during the investigation. The charges should be filed during next week.

The arsonists attacked the home in April 2009. According to the results of the police investigation, they threw three Molotov cocktails into the house. Three people were injured during the subsequent blaze. The most serious injuries were suffered by a small girl named Natalka, who was not yet two years old at the time. She suffered extensive second and third-degree burns over 80 % of her body.

Police completed their investigation last week. At that time, the accused had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the file and propose other evidence. “Detectives have completed the file material and submitted it to the state prosecutor today with a proposal for charges to be filed. The legal qualification has not changed, the four men are to be charged with murder,” Stetinska said.
