Portugal: Christian radio station awarded prize for working to reduce inter-ethnic tension in Slovakia

18.10.2018 7:58 Agenzia Fides reports that on 10 October the European Conference of Christian Radio (ECCR) held its 25th meeting in Lisbon, Portugal. This year, for the very first time, an award was given there for the best initiative contributing to improving the situation in the country where the radio is broadcasting.  full story

First Romani woman and second Romani person in history will be beatified this Saturday: Emilia Fernández Rodríguez

28.3.2017 17:06 News server Vatican Insider reports that Cardinal Angelo Amato from the Congregation for the Causes of Saints will declare the Romani woman Emilia Fernández Rodríguez beatified during Saturday's religious service in the Spanish town of Aguadulce. Czech religious representatives fly Roma flag in honor of Holocaust victims

3.8.2016 16:19 Yesterday in Prague the Roma flag was flown together with the flags of three religious societies in the Czech Republic in honor of the victims of the Roma Holocaust. From 2 August to 3 August 1944, almost 3 000 Roma and Sinti were murdered in the concentration and extermination camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau, and 2 August is therefore commemorated as Roma Holocaust Memorial Day throughout Europe.  full story

Iraqi Christians who refused asylum offer from Czech Republic will remain in Germany to seek asylum there

4.4.2016 23:38 The group of 25 Christian refugees from Iraq who left the Czech Republic this weekend for Germany will now be remaining there. Kateřina Rendlová, spokesperson for the Czech Police's immigration division, reported on the website of the Czech Police that those refugees have now sought asylum from Germany.  full story

Germany sends Christian refugees back to Czech Republic for deportation to Iraq

4.4.2016 0:51 A group of 25 Iraqi refugees who have been living temporarily at the Okrouhlík center near Jihlava in the Czech Republic refused that country's offer of asylum and asked for their passports to be returned to them on Friday. They spent the night at a residential hotel elsewhere in Jihlava before chartering a bus on Saturday and traveling to the German town of Essen.  full story
