The Regional Court in Brno gave two-year prison sentences to two policemen who beat up and tortured a 14-year-old Romany boy, tightening the original sentences imposed by the Brno City Court last November.

The two policemen as well as the state attorney appealed the city court’s suspended sentences.

According to the charges, the son of one of the policemen and his friends were harassed last June by a group of boys of which the attacked Romany was a member.

The policeman on duty found two Romany boys from the group. He allowed one of them to leave the police car while he and his colleague took the other boy to a Brno forest where he beat up the boy and twice put an unloaded service arm at his head and pulled the trigger.

When the boy tried to escape, the other policeman caught him and handed to his colleague. They wanted the boy to tell them the names of his friends. Later they released him.
