19.10.2018 6:59 Today at 11 AM in the beautiful Brožíkův Hall of the Old Town Hall in Prague, the Romani Scholarship Program is holding its celebratory gathering of Romani students of secondary and higher technical schools who have become scholarship recipients this school year. The program is implemented by the ROMEA organization for a third year with the support of the Velux Foundation of Denmark, the Albatros Foundation and other supporters.  full story

ROMEA declines invitation to Czech Television's debate program on Czech President's remarks because of its sensationalism

11.10.2018 6:11 Czech Television is planning to address the recent insulting remarks made by Czech President Miloš Zeman about Romani people on next week's episode of its debate program called "You Have the Floor" (Máte slovo), moderated by Michaela Jílková. In his recent remarks, the President alleged that 90 % of Romani people in the country do not work for a living.  full story

LIVE BROADCAST: RomanoNet delivers protest manifesto to the Italian Embassy about Italy's racist measures against Roma

30.7.2018 13:52 Representatives of RomanoNet will deliver a protest manifesto to the Ambassador of Italy to the Czech Republic, Aldo Amati, very shortly. The organizations are protesting against the situation of Romani in Italy, where the Italian Interior Minister and leader of the ultra-right Lega group, Matteo Salvini, is demanding a census of Romani people and the application of racist policies against them.

First-graders from Czech school subjected to racist attacks online receive tablets thanks to ROMEA's fundraising drive

2.7.2018 6:15 Children attending the primary school in Teplice that faced a wave of racist online commentaries in the autumn of 2017 were given tablets and other small gifts during the end-of-year celebration that were bought for them by the school with the proceeds from the ROMEA organization's fundraising campaign on their behalf. At last Thursday's celebration, graduating pupils were given a sash to wear and were accompanied by the first-graders in addition to their teachers during the ceremony.  full story

Czech Republic: Romani secondary school students can apply for scholarships, deadline is 15 July

18.6.2018 10:11 Romani secondary school students are now able to apply for scholarships for the 2018/2019 school year from the ROMEA organization. Online applications can be sent in until 18 July through the online application form at www.romskastipendia.cz.  full story

VIDEO: Commemorative ceremony at Lety u Písku and tour of the former pig farm

14.5.2018 12:59 The commemorative ceremony honoring the Romani victims of the Holocaust at Lety took place yesterday after the recent closure of the pig farm that overlapped with the former concentration camp site. The newly-adapted remembrance site is scheduled to be presented by the Museum of Romani Culture to the public within three years.

10.5.2018 8:56 A week-long education program in South Bohemia focused primarily on fundraising was attended recently by 16 leading figures from the nonprofit world, most of them Romani. The intensive, interactive development program, which featured education based in experiential learning and self-exploration and which was led by instructors from the Czech Fundraising Center, took place as part of a two-year program entitled "Pre peskere pindre" (On Your Own Feet).  full story

17.12.2017 17:21 Czech MP Tomio Okamura is continuing his deceptive verbal attacks against his political opponents, posting allegations to Facebook post that his own brother, Hayato Okamura, Czech MEP Jaromír Štětina (TOP09), and an unnamed activist supposedly associated with news server Romea.cz prevented the course of yesterday's "Europe of Nations and Freedom" conference in Prague using violence and vulgarities. The demonstration organizers and the ROMEA organization have emphatically objected to these lies.  full story

ROMEA raises funds to support Czech school subjected to racist attacks online

17.11.2017 14:46 ROMEA, along with other organizations and many public figures, has decided to respond to the current wave of hatred and racism that is spreading through the Czech Republic. Together they are joining a campaign to promote the Romani Scholarship Program which, during this academic year, has already supported 86 Romani secondary school students from all over the Czech Republic.  full story

Partner of murdered Romani man condemns Czech media for calling him a "terrorist"

Czech capital one of more than 600 marches worldwide in solidarity with women demonstrating in Washington DC

Czech Republic: Investigation into Romani man's death continues as interethnic gulf widens
