Bulgaria Allocates BGN 15 M for Roma Ghettos

A total of BGN 15 M from the state budget in 2008 is to be allocated to the development of the infrastructure in Roma districts, Bulgaria’s government decided on Thursday.
The ministers adopted a report over the performance of the Action Plan with the National Strategy for Improving of Roma’ Living Conditions until 2015.
A total of 80 requests from 41 municipalities for financing projects of technical infrastructure building have been submitted so far.
The sum of BGN 10 M was granted for providing of drains and road repairs in 35 municipalities populated predominantly with Roma minority.
The currently running program aims at improving the living conditions of more than 400,000 people across the country.
