Denmark: Extremists who wanted to set police school on fire arrested
Four right-wing extremists who planned an arson attack on a Police Academy were arrested today in the early morning hours by Danish Police. AFP says secret services reported the plan and also suspect the men, aged between 19 and 23, of an attempt to set a bank on fire in January.
AFP reports that those arrested had long been in the sights of police for other arson attempts. They were arrested after breaking into the police school on the outskirts of Copenhagen. They had Molotov cocktails with them, among other things. “According to the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET), these are persons involved in extremist environments who are determined to use very violent methods,” Jakob Scharf, Director of PET, said. Danish media reports said that after the four men were arrested, a 21-year-old woman was also interrogated.
