The INEKO Institute, which regularly evaluates measures taken by municipalities, has announced that the town of Trnava’s decision to provide rent-free space in the Recreation Center for perfecting the computer skills of local Romani children was the most valuable project undertaken by any municipality this past quarter.

More than 20 evaluators gave the initiative the highest score. Evaluators particularly appreciated its contribution to the integration of the Roma population into society and the fact that the project helped improve computer skills and increased access to computer technology for a socially deprived section of the population.

Within the framework of the project “Evaluation of the Economic and Social Measures in Regions of the Slovak Republic” (HESO-Regiony), economic analysts, entrepreneurs, chief magistrates, city managers, academics, professionals, and non-governmental organizations express their opinions quarterly on the proposed and realized measures taken by institutions at community, town, and regional level. The HESO project communicates the opinion of experts on important socioeconomic measures which influence citizens’ quality of life.
