Unidentified men painted and engraved swastikas on ten cars on a parking lot in Trebisov, East Slovakia, Jana Demjanovicova told CTK today.

The incurred damage amounts to 8000 crowns, Demjanovicova said, adding that the police had started investigating the case.

"By engraving the Nazi symbols, the crime of support to the movement suppressing basic rights and freedoms was committed," Demjanovicova said.

If convicted, the culprits may be sentenced up to three years in prison. They may also face damage to property charges, she added.

In early February, fascism charges were brought against two young people in eastern Slovakia for having painted swastikas and other Nazi symbols at the schools in Levoca and Snina.

A youth from the Roznava district who sprayed a swastika on his overalls is also facing promotion of fascism charges.
